Trip to Damyang

Damyang Jooknogwon

I went to this place in 2008.

This place contains lots of kinds of bamboo trees it has made up the bamboo tree forest.

There are a lot of walking courses and air is very clean.

When you walk through these trails you can feel like you’re in the kind of old action move or something.

In fact movei named R-POINT was taken in this place.

If you want to feel the real Bamboo mood Go to DAMYANG JOOKNOGWON

After travelling, outside the Jooknogwon there is a restaurant which is famous for traditional Korean Food named Ddukgalbi(떡갈비-traditional korean beef BBQ) and you can also enjoy delicious and healthy rice which is cooked inside of the bamboo tree(대통밥).

Another restaurant I would recommand is Jinwoonejibguksoo(진우네 집 국수).

This restaurant’s only menu is noodles and boiled eggs but it is really delicious.

You may be have to wait in queue to eat this noodle.

It is not very expensive also!

Happy Seollal

Have you ever heard about Seollal?

Seollal is Lunar new year’s day. It’s major Korean holiday. Koreans get 3 days of holiday in Seollal.

Most Koreans gather in Gran’s house and celebrate Seollal altogether.

This Seollal I went to my gran’s house in Andong.

My gran’s house in Andong is so remote from city.

Actually there is only one streetlight in town and is made of 10 houses.

Moreover, I couldn’t use my cell. It’s not working .

Even all the other TV channels except 2 wasn’t available.

But I didn’t have time to watch TV.

Because we have to prepare for jesa.

Jesa is a kind of traditional ceremony for ancestors.

At Seollal morning we do a sebae to elders.

After sebae grandfather gave us well-wishing remarks.

And after that, maybe the most joyfull time for some kids.

Elders give money to family. It’s some kind of giving out some pocket money.

But it’s for wishing a good luck:D

So after Seollal many kids save that money or buy somthing they wanted for a long time.

Always, Seollal breakfast is tteokguk.

Tteokguk (soup with white tteok) is an essential part of the ritual ceremony performed on the morning of Lunar New Year’s.

tteokguk is really delicious:D Yummy..!

Ingredients of Tteokguk varies from region to region.

It’s time for Jesa!

Grandfather, father and uncles wear traditional clothes.

For Jesa there are a lot of things to prepare. So much food and other things

All the family men do traditional bowing.

It’s kind of traditional and religional ceremony.

Seollal is time for family to gather.

Seollal is time for thinking about forefathers.

Seollal is time for rest.

Seollal is Koreans’ best holiday.

Standing in Center of Seoul

About few years ago, when I was in middle school.

I was standing in center of Seoul by chance.

All the other people moving vividly and it was such a amazing sight:D

Last weekend, I’ve been to Center of Seoul.

The brisk, vivid Seoul which I remembered of, was still there.
